The Matter 2012: Art & Archive

I designed an interactive media piece that interweaves David Gordon’s archival footage with live projections of the performers, the audience, and the set design. This production was inspired by Edward Muybridge’s photography and illuminated movements and perspectives that are usually inaccessible to the audience. I attached GoPro cameras to stage props and to different parts of the dancer’s bodies, such as the back of their head or elbow, and used this footage to create compositions that would accompany the choreography in real-time.
